What is the Installation Process of Timber Flooring?

  • Site Inspection and Free Quote

Our team will complete a comprehensive measurement of the area as well as an assessment of the subflooring. The specialists will then explain which installation method they believe will be the best to use and finish off by providing a free quote for the product and labour costs. 

  • Acclimatisation

Due to solid timber flooring being a natural product that reacts to humidity and temperature, the flooring is delivered and held on site for approximately 5 – 10 days so that it can adjust to the new temperature.This prevents future warping, buckling or gaps within the wood planks. 

  • Subfloor Preparation

The subfloor is prepared through the installers ensuring that it is clean, dry and level. Depending on the condition of the subflooring, the installers may use it or lay a new one.

  • Installation

Depending on the timber flooring type the professional installation team with either use the nail down method, glue down method or the floating installation that uses a click lock system. 

  • Sanding and Finishing

Sanding of the timber is done to ensure that the timber floorboards are smooth. The finishes are applied for protection to the timber, however engineered timber is often pre-finished.

  • Clean up and Final Touches
